The children ran after their mother, called to her, held out dippers. That is how they ran after their mother. The youngest son said: “Mama, mama, come home, drink water.” But the mother said: “Coo-coo, coo-coo, I’ve left, I’ve left.” And the son: “I won’t go home.” So the children ran after their mother many days and nights, over rocks, over trees, their shoes tore completely, their legs were stained with blood. Where they ran, red traces remained. The cuckoo rejected her children for good. From this time on she does not build a nest, nor does she raise her children herself. And on that path red eyes started to appear. They say it is as if the red eyes were the blood of the cuckoo’s children.

Suddenly, when there were no more people, three demons appeared, all of them dressed in iron coats. The body of one was visible, on his last finger was his heart. He did not succeed in shooting an arrow, the three iron demons turned now into stones, into stone blocks. He picked up the arrow and went there, threw the arrow on the ground and the stone block split in two. Three iron demons in their iron coats, three demons jumped out. They tied the legs and arms of White Bank of the Sun Back, White Bank of the Moon Back, picked him up and carried him off alive. They did not kill him, they carried him off alive, who knows where they took him. He saw right away that a clearing was visible and in the middle of the clearing a house was standing, could be seen. He thought: “This must be the house of these demons. They’re taking me there and will kill me there.” Oh, he thought of his older brother. He remembered his brother. “For what,” he said, “did they call my brother ‘War-Arrow Spirit, Death-Arrow Spirit. It doesn’t look like he’ll be coming to help me.”
